CA3 : Communications

Introduction:

The CA3 course aims to test your skills at effective communication to both technical and non-technical audiences. It is based on the concepts in the Core technical subjects and in CA1 - Actuarial Risk Management and questions are set within a financial framework.

The Format of CA3

The examination will now be conducted in a day long period.

  • The first half - The day will start with a PC based two hour exam where candidates will prepare the slides for the presentation.
  • The first half - Candidates will be individually assessed by two Examiners - an actuary and a non-actuary in a 5-10 minute oral presentation which will be filmed.
  • The second half - In the evening, candidate will also complete a PC based written exam (1.5 hours + 15 minutes reading time) involving the communication of actuarial issues.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

  • How to apply for CA3 examination?
    CA3 examination is conducted twice a year and the registrations for each batch opens shortly after the results of the earlier diet are declared. Registrations for CA3 are online.

  • What is the eligibility for applying CA3?
    You need to clear all CT series + CA1 examinations in order to register for the CA3.
  • What is the batch size?
    Batch of maximum of twenty students selected on first-cum-first basis.
  • Which MS office version is used?
    MS office 2007 version will be used for CA3 examinations.
  • What is the dress code for the CA3 Exam?
    Formal Attire.

Exam Dates

  • The CA3 Exams for year 2017-18 are tentatively scheduled as below:
    1. Third week of April 2017
    2. First week of July 2017
    3. Fourth week of October 2017
    4. First week of January 2018.
