Student: A candidate is qualified as a student member after admitted through Actuarial Common Entrance Test (ACET) or through a direct entry as per eligibility conditions. A student member shall not have any rights to vote on any matter or resolution in any meeting of the Institute.

Associates: A Student member who have passed/been exempted from a minimum of all Core Principle series (CS 1 & 2, CM1 & 2,CB1,CB2,CB3) and all Core Application series (CP1 to CP3) subjects is eligible (on application) to become an Associate Member of the Institute. An Associate member is entitled to use the letters "AIAI" after his name to indicate that he is an Associate. An Associate member is eligible to vote in the election to the Council.
Fellows: Any candidate person, either a student or Associate member of the Institute who complete all Examinations (currently 13 subjects) and successfully completes the India Fellowship Seminar along with a minimum of 3 years of Actuarial Experience shall be admitted as a Fellow of Institute of Actuaries of India. Members who qualified from other Actuarial Professions outside India also admitted as a fellow member,subject to Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA) and fulfilling certain conditions. A Fellow member is eligible to vote and contest in the election to the Council. The fellow member is entitled to use the letters "FIAI" after his name to indicate that he is a Fellow.
